There is an alert for customers who may have visited the Oswego Sub Shop on West Bridge Street in the several months and used their credit cards.
Oswego Police say the Sub Shop's computers may have been compromised sometime in the last several months. The discovery was reported to the public on or around January 21st.
At this point, police say there is no reason to believe customers who swiped their credit cards there are at any greater risk than doing so at any other business that allows electronic transactions.
Investigators say the Sub Shop has fully cooperated with the investigation so far. It is working with the U.S. Secret Service to identify the point of the security breach, which so far investigators have determined came from the outside.
The Sub Shop has since replaced all hard drives, and hired experts in Payment Card Industry compliance (PCI) to make sure their system is safe and secure.
