Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh says that the suspect vehicle involved in yesterday TMs fatal hit-and-run involving Liverpool High School senior Joseph Ozimek III has been found and located.
Deputies say that the investigation is continuing and detectives are following up on several leads.
Additional information is expected later today.
Ozimek was killed in an early morning hit and run accident Wednesday on Route 57 while walking home from work shortly after midnight.
Authorities say a Centro bus driver found Ozimek's body lying on the side of the road. The teen was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
This afternoon, several friends and family members of Joseph Ozimek placed flowers and a cross at the bus stop near where his body was found yesterday morning.
Ozimek's brother-in-law Jacob Vieira told CNY Central's Jim Kenyon that the family is trying to deal with the tragedy. He said he was grateful to hear that sheriff's deputies are closing in on the case. He described Ozimek as hard-working and very friendly and said the circumstances around his death have hurt the family.
Jacob's brother, Richard Vieira, added that he hopes whoever is responsible is caught and taken off the road.
