Police looking for man who stole cell phone during armed robbery

Syracuse police are looking for the man who stole another's phone during an armed robbery Friday evening.

According to police, it happened around 6:30 p.m. Police say a 45 year old man was walking along the 700 block of Hickory Street talking on his cell phone when he was approached by a black male in his mid-twenties.

The suspect asked the victim if he could use the phone, to which the victim replied "no." That's when investigators say the suspect pushed the victim to the ground and stole the cell phone.

The victim told police the suspect had been wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He also told investigators the suspect had what looked like a handgun.

Police say the suspect was last seen driving away in a light colored SUV on Lodi Street.
