SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
A Syracuse man has been charged with possession of a loaded handgun that had been stolen, the Syracuse Police said.
Terry Causey, 25, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, littering and dumping and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was also issued numerous parking citations.
Police officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the 600 block of Massena Street Sunday night in Syracuse. A Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Causey was parked illegally and obstructing traffic, according to police. Officers also saw trash being thrown out of the vehicle onto the street.
Officers approached Causey and while speaking to him, police observed a plastic bag containing marijuana in a cup holder of the car. Causey was then asked to exit the vehicle and as he did, police saw a loaded handgun in the driver's side door pocket of the vehicle, police said.
The handgun was determined to be a loaded battlefield green, Glock 27. The gun had been stolen from Georgia, police determined.
Causey was lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending his arraignment.
