Police recover vehicle of SU Law grad killed in NJ mall carjacking

Police are releasing new information about the Syracuse University Law School graduate killed in Sunday's New Jersey carjacking.
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Dustin Friedland,
according to nj.com
. Friedland was shot in the parking deck of the Short Hills mall as he and his wife returned to their car after Christmas shopping.
Carolyn Murray, acting Essex County Prosecutor, says Friedland was shot in the head before two men took off in the vehicle. His wife was not injured in the attack.
Monday morning, police recovered the stolen silver Range Rover. No detailed description of the carjackers has been released, though they are still at large.
Friedland was a Hoboken, New Jersey attorney. He graduated from Syracuse in 2009. He was pronounced dead at Morristown Medical Center.
SU College of Law Dean and Professor Hannah Arterian issued the following statement:
â??The Syracuse University community learned today that Dustin Friedland, a 2009 graduate of the College of Law, was killed over the weekend in what appears to be a random act of violence near his home in Hoboken, N.J. We are shocked and extremely saddened by this news. All of Dustinâ??s family and friendsâ??especially his wife, Jamie Schare Friedland, a 2011 graduate of the College of Lawâ??are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.â??
