Police: Woman succumbs to injuries after scooter accident in Watertown
WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
Police in Watertown say a woman succumbed to injuries suffered in a scooter accident earlier this week.
Police say it happened Monday afternoon in the 600 block of Emerson Street. A woman there had struck a curb while attempting to ride a 1993 Yamaha Razz out of her driveway, throwing her off the scooter. The rider, identified as 62-year-old Sherry Noftsier, struck her head during the fall. She wasn't wearing a helmet at the time, police said.
Noftsier was able to speak with responders at the scene, police said, however her injuries required her to be flown to Upstate Medical Hospital in Syracuse.
Later in the afternoon, Noftsier succumbed to the injuries, police said.
Police and the Onondaga Medical Examiner's Office are investigating her death.
