Power back on in most CNY homes after severe storms

Most of the lights are now back on across Central New York after massive storms ripped through the area on Tuesday.

National Grid dispatched more than 1,800 workers to restore electricity service. The storm caused extensive tree and power line damage, leaving about 86,000 customers without power.

Crews are urging you to be careful and avoid areas with damaged trees, poles and wires because there may still be broken or cracked limbs in trees that haven't fallen to the ground yet.
