Power outage hits Liverpool, Clay, Salina

More than 5,000 National Grid customers are blacked out in Liverpool Salina and Clay on Sunday morning

Update: Power is now back on in Clay, Salina and the Village of Liverpool .

National Grid tells us the outage happened just before 8am Sunday morning, as an animal got into the Belmont substation (off Route 57 near Glen Crossing). Though the utility estimated around noon, crews were able to switch customers to other power sources and everyone is now back on.

It was a major outage for the utility: in Clay, 3,770 customers were out, another , 1086 customers in Salina and 177 in the Village of Liverpool, over 5,000 in all.
