Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation hands out another $10,000 to local rescues

The Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation will take the ice between periods at the Syracuse Crunch hockey game Friday night to make another $10,000 in donations to a dozen CNY animal rescues and welfares.

The Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation was founded by CNYcentral Chief Meteorologist Wayne Mahar four year ago to raise money for local animal welfare organizations.

Just last month PMAWF donated $10,000 to ten local animal rescues. Monies raised by PMAWF are derived mostly from the two primary events it holds each year.

Pucks for Paws at a Syracuse CRUNCH game in March where hockey fans bring their dogs to the game, and the giant Canine Carnival which has fast become a major central NY summer event attracting more than 8000 people this past August at Longbranch Park.

Primary supporters of PMAWF events include CNYcentral, Liverpool Village Animal Hospital, Veterinary Medical Center of CNY and Wegmans. To learn more about these events, please email Wayne at or
