Prison City among five finalists in NY's Craft Beer Challenge
ALBANY, N.Y. —
Prison City Pub and Brewery is one of five finalists in a state-wide Craft Beer Challenge.
The Taste NY Craft Beer Challenge, started this spring by Governor Andrew Cuomo, aims to name the winning beer by judging a brewery's diversity, range, and quality of various beers.
The contest includes more than 70 craft breweries across the state. A dozen of those breweries hailed from Central New York.
More than 42,000 votes were cast through an online voting process. Prison City Pub and Brewery in Auburn was named one of the finalists, as determined by the number of votes cast, and has been invited to a final tasting event in New York City on Wednesday.
Brewery Ommegang, Genesee Brewery, The Roscoe NY Beer Co., and Southern Tier Brewing Company are the other four finalists.
The judging panel will feature Chef Mario Batali, retired Buffalo Bills player Thurman Thomas, and Noah Kaufman, Senior Digital Editor for Food and Wine Magazine.
This is all happening during American Craft Beer Week, which runs from May 15-21 and celebrates craft beer across the country.
