Rabid raccoon caught in Lafayette

A raccoon found in the Town of Lafayette tested positive for rabies, according to the Onondaga County Health Department.

The rabid raccoon was found on Route 20 between Oâ??Connell and Berry Roads.

Interim Health Commissioner Michelle Mignano says: â??It is important never to touch or feed wildlife because they may be rabid and protecting yourself from rabies is important throughout the year.â??

Recently, a pregnant Nedrow mom was attacked by a rabid fox at their home.

A rabies shot clinic is being held on Thursday, July 10 from 2-4pm at the Onondaga Nation Fire Department, on Route 11A in Nedrow.
