One witness, Brian Kramer, told CNY Central that he tried to help.

"I just came up on the car, it was burning, tried to open up the door, it was stuck. Went to my truck to get a hammer to bust out the window," says Kramer.

Kramer says other people showed up with a fire extinguisher. They broke the vehicle's back window open and, Kramer says, "exhausted all of the extinguisher in the car. It didnâ??t do much." Then, he says, emergency crews arrived.

Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputies say the SUV crashed into a wall in front of 942 Old Liverpool Road.

The Liverpool Fire Department and Onondaga County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident.

Old Liverpool Road was closed from Onondaga Lake Parkway to Electronics Parkway while officials investigate and clear the scene. The road reopened around 12:00 p.m.
