T he Red Cross is stepping into the digital age with ways to help your pets before you get to the vet.
The new Red Cross Pet First App helps to put lifesaving information in the hands of dog and cat owners. The app costs 99 cents and is available for iPhone and Android smart phones.
"The Pet First Aid App provides step-by-step instructions, videos and images for more than 25 common first aid and emergency situations, including how to treat wounds, control bleeding, and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies," said Rosie Taravella, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Central New York Region. "Pets are parts of our families, and we want you to be prepared if your pet needs emergency care that could save its life."
The app allows pet owners to create a profile for their pet that includes important veterinary information. It also includes location services for pet care facilities, animal hospitals and pet friendly hotels.
