A red flag warning is in effect for Chenango, Otsego, and southern Herkimer counties and into eastern New York and the Catskills between 11am and 8pm Thursday.
A red flag warning means critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, very low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Therefore, outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.
If your area has a red flag warning, here is what you should do
