Remembering Tully victims found in pond

TULLY, NY -- It was a scene of utter grief and despair, as a woman who lost three family members in this week's tragic crash tried to compose herself at a vigil.

The two women and child were reported missing Monday. During a search, State Police discovered their car overturned in a pond near the intersection of Gatehouse Road and Route 80 on Tuesday.

Fighting tears, a mother, grandmother, and sister is heartbroken as she stood right where the tragic accident happened.

"There's no words to describe what I feel," cried Mary Godfrey, the mother, grandmother and sister of the three victims.

Her life now turned upside down.

"It's surreal, it doesn't even feel real," added Godfrey.

Friends and family hugged one another and lit a candle for their loved ones, Jaime Bell, Melissa Avery and Maryssa Houston.

"I don't see any healing, it's going to take a long time, said Godfrey.

For Nikki Bell, she said the last few days have been unbearable as she's left without her mom. Bell told us her mom was always protective and cared about everyone.

"It was heartbreaking," Bell said tearing up, It was just so unreal," she added.

Syracuse Academy of Science is where the little girl, Maryssa attended kindergarten. Her teachers brought flowers that were donated to the school and cards made by her classmates.

Errin Negron is one of her teachers and remembers Maryssa as a ray of sunshine.

"Her favorite color was purple and she loved to eat her Oreos and her snacks at snack time, where she would lick them off and she was just a ball of joy and brought joy to all of our lives," added Negron.

Balloons, candles and flowers sit at the spot of the accident. Loved ones gathered in a circle and said a prayer, then released Chinese lanterns in the sky.

"Thanks for all the outpouring of love that they've showed for my sister, baby and grand baby," thanked Godfrey.

Three cherished lives taken too soon.
