A Remsen man is in police custody after the second report of domestic violence in one week.
27-year-old Craig Lockwood was arrested on January 21 for assaulting his estranged wife. He was being held in the Oneida County Correctional Facility, but was released on bond Thursday.
Just hours after Lockwood was released, Rome police responded to a report of an assault on Brush Ave. They say two women, one with a young child in a stroller, were walking down Brush Ave and approached a man they say was Lockwood. Lockwood threw one woman to the ground, injuring her arm. The other woman, Lockwood's estranged wife, was hit several times on the face. He then fled the area.
The victims were treated at the scene. Officers located Lockwood later that evening in Remsen, where he was taken into custody. He was charged with assault, criminal contempt, endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of harassment.
