Republicans file name of Syracuse attorney in Mayor's race

Facing a final deadline to put someone else's name on the documents to run for Mayor of Syracuse, Onondaga County Republican Committee Chairman Tom Dadey announced he's replaced his name with that of Kevin P. Kuehner, who is already running for Syracuse Common Council.
Mr. Kuehner is on the ballot running for a Common Council At-Large seat and will now be the Republican's candidate for Mayor. In a prepared statement, Dadey said, "It is important that our Party preserve all of our options for the race for Mayor and moving Kevin into this slot does just that."
"It is our hope that this question can now be put to rest until the conclusion of the Democrat Primary scheduled for next month," Dadey added.
This filing by Dadey is basically a legal maneuver that preserves the Republicans options when it comes to selecting a candidate for a few more weeks. There is very little likelihood that Mr. Kuehner will wind up running for Mayor come November.
Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner is facing a primary challenge from Councilor Pat Hogan and Alfonso Davis.
