The rising cost of food is hurting some local restaurants. The Burger Joint on James Street in Syracuse says prices for foods like tomatoes and lettuce has more than doubled over the past few months.
The restaurant's owner says cold weather crippling the South has caused a bad crop, but prices are still going up. The Burger Joint is choosing not to pass that additional cost on to its customers.
It's a similar story at La Taqueria on Clinton St. in downtown Syracuse.
The restaurant's manager says prices have not gone up as prices have skyrocketed. The restaurant says their plan is to not raise prices but may have to lower portions if the situation does not improve down the road.
CNYcentral's Brian Mueller will have more on this tonight at 5:00 & 6:00.
