Road closures in Central New York due to flooding

      Flooding that has slammed New York state from the Adirondacks to the Catskills is now starting to close roads farther west into Central New York.

      Thursday morning officials closed several highways and roads to and around major highways in Herkimer, Oneida and Madison counties as far west as the city of Oneida.

      The closings included part of Route 365A near the city of Oneida and Route 5 between the Montgomery County line and Fonda.

      Local road closures extended to the Interstate 81 corridor north of Binghamton, as well as along parts of Interstate 88 and nearby roads in Otsego, Delaware and Chenango counties.

      A stretch of Route 17 along the Susquehanna Rivera on the Pennsylvania border west of Binghamton is closed between Exits 61 and 62 in Tioga County.

      Middle Settlement from Seneca Turnpike to Kirkland

      Middle Settlement from Aitken to Route 840

      Oriskany Boulevard from Clinton Street in the Town of Whitestown eastbound through the Village of Whitesboro

      Main Street from Mohawk Street to the Town of Yorkville line

      Clinton Street between Henderson and Burrstone

      Route 46 (Rome New London Road) between Route 69 and other side of Erie Canal Village

      River Street between Route 69 and Route 49

      Stoney Brook Road between Route 31 and Beacon Light Road

      Mohawk Street between Main Street and River Road

      Route 5 (Seneca Turnpike) between Alexandria Road and Commercial Drive

      NY 69 EB & WB closed betw Main St, Yorkville & Gardner St, Whitesboro

      Leland Ave is closed from the 790 ramp to Wurz Ave in Utica

      Cortland County:

      Rte 26 NB&SB between Rte 41 & Rte 23, Town of Cincinnatus

      Madison County:

      State Route 8 from Bridgewater to Welsh Road in the Town of Brookfield

      Elm Street from Cole Street to Canal in the Town of Madison

      Middle Road from State Route 5 to Chapel Road in the City of Oneida

      NY 365A closed between NY365 to NY 46, City of Oneida

      NY 12B closed at Village of Hamilton

      NY 12B closed beween College St & E Kendrick Ave, Hamilton

      The following is from the State Thruway:

      I-88 in Binghamton is closed between Exit 3 and Interstate 81

      I-81 is reduced to one lane, just north of Binghamton, between Exit 6 and Exit 8

      The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that travel is allowed between Exits 27 and 28 in both directions on the Thruway. Interstate 90 has been reopened to traffic in both the eastbound and westbound directions. Motorists traveling between Exits 27 & 28 should expect lane restrictions, reduced speed limits and traffic delays.

      Motorists should avoid travel within the Mohawk Valley Region, and seek alternate routes outside of this region, as widespread flooding of area roads is expected.
