Robbers hit victim in the head with a gun, steal cash and children's shoes

Syracuse Police are investigating an armed robbery they say took place Thursday night around 8:30 p.m.

Police say the victim, a 26-year-old man, was walking on Hawley Avenue when he was approached by four men who asked him for a light for a cigarette.

One of the suspects then reportedly hit the man in the head with a silver handgun. The suspect robbed the man of cash and four pairs of children's shoes, which were still in their boxes.

Syracuse Police say the suspects ran away towards Burnet Avenue.

The victim was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he was treated for head pain.

The suspects are described as four black male. Three of them were reportedly wearing jeans and hooded sweatshirts and the fourth was wearing a gray sweat suit.
