Robbery suspect on the loose after firing gun during struggle with resident

Syracuse Police were called to 939 South Townsend Street Friday at about 8:14 pm for a robbery where shots were fired.

Police say the 34-year-old victim was in the hallway of the home when he was confronted by a man who took his cell phone. The two fought over the phone until the suspect pulled a handgun, where the focus of the struggle shifted, officers say.

The suspect fired one shot and then ran, according to investigators.

The victim sustained minor injuries, but police say he refused treatment.

The suspect is described as being a black man in his 30â??s, 6â?? 2â?? tall, weighing 220 lbs. and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and fatigue pants.
