Rochester area teen performs in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
NEW YORK - John Phillips, from the Rochester area, has been playing the trumpet since he was in fourth grade, performing with his school bands. But Thursday, the Allendale Columbia sophomore took his talents to a much bigger stage.
On Thursday, Phillips marched with four other high schoolers in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
Phillips and the other students marched to represent New York State.
Phillips had about a week to learn how to march with the other 220 members of the band before the 90th annual parade.
This is the 10th year the Macy's Great American High School Marching Band has been a part of the parade.
