Rome man accused of killing estranged wife

A Rome man is arrested, charged with killing his his estranged wife.

Police say around 7pm Saturday, they responded to the 300 block of East Bloomfield Street. They found Carrie Werenski, 45, with stab wounds. She was taken to Rome Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after getting there. Police are identifying the suspect as Christopher Werenski, 46. He was taken into custody shortly after the stabbing.

Christopher Werenski is behind bars, pending arraignment in Rome City Court. He is charged with 2nd degree murder. Police say they will release more information on this case Monday.
