Rome man sent to hospital after he was hit by a car

A Rome man was sent to the hospital after being hit by a car.
According to the Oneida County Sheriffâ??s Office, at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to the accident that took place on Turin Road near the intersection of Bielby Road.
Deputies say Russell LaPlante, 33, of Rome, was walking across Turin Road when he was hit by a car.
The driver, Tongela Ladue-Francescone, 36, of Rome, said she did not see LaPlante crossing the road according to officials.
LaPlante was taken to St. Elizabethâ??s Medical Center in Utica for non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies say that neither Ladue-Francescone or her passenger were injured in the incident.
Ladue-Francescone was not faulted for the accident but was ticketed for operating an uninspected motor vehicle.
