Rome man ticketed after hitting parked cars and a pedestrian

A Rome man was ticketed today after he hit four parked cars and a pedestrian while trying to leave the Walmart parking lot, according to the Oneida County Sheriffâ??s Office.

Deputies say 86-year-old Mark Humez was backing out of his parking spot at the Walmart in Rome when he hit 26-year-old pedestrian Nicole Sullivan.

Humez kept backing up, and crashed into another parked vehicle that 31-year-old Daniel Osei was sitting in at the time. The force of that crash pushed Oseiâ??s vehicle into another, unoccupied parked car, according to deputies.

After this, authorities say Humez then put the car in drive and started to speed away, but not before he hit two more parked cars.

Both Sullivan and Osei were taken to Rome Hospital by ambulance to be treated for minor injuries.

Humez was ticketed for unsafe backing and unsafe start, according to deputies.
