Three Oneida County children were found living in deplorable conditions after their mother left them alone for nearly 19 hours, investigators say.
State Police arrested 30-year-old Leah J. Internicola, of 6446 Williams Road in Rome, after they received information that she had left her three, two and one-year-old children at home alone.
After forcing their way into the home, investigators say they found the three kids living in terrible conditions, and that they were alone there for about 19 hours. A search of the home also turned up a quantity of marijuana.
Internicola was arrested and charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of criminal possession of marijuana.
She was taken to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1000 bond.
Oneida County Child Protective Services assisted troopers on the scene.
