Rome police seek suspect in Citgo station robbery
City of Rome Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Saturday at about 2:14 am at the Citgo station on the 400 block of West Dominick Street.
The suspect was caught on the storeâ??s surveillance cameras, and is described as a white man in his mid 20â??s, about 5â??4â??-5â??6â?? tall with a chinstrap beard. He was wearing a white t-shirt and white golf-style shorts with dark stripes and white sneakers at the time of the robbery. He also has a round tattoo on the inside of his right forearm, according to police.
Police say he went into the store and demanded money. When the clerk questioned him, the suspect lifted his shirt to show what the clerk thought was a handgun.
The clerk gave the suspect some cash, after which the suspect ran and was seen meeting with an accomplice on a bicycle near the rear of the store. Both escaped on bikes, and were last seen heading north on Lyons Street. The accomplice was also a white man who was wearing a white t-shirt, dark shorts, dark hat with a logo and he was wearing a dark colored backpack.
