Hundreds turned out Tuesday in two Fingerlakes school systems to have their say on whether the districts should merge. Voters are considering whether the plan to merge Romulus Central Schools and South Seneca Schools.
In Romulus the straw vote results were 268 yes, 242 no. The vote passed.
In South Seneca the vote results were 473 yes, 86 no. The vote passed.
The Romulus district says this will lead to a second vote administered by the NYS Education Department on October 29, 2013.
The districts have been considering a consolidation since at least last year, when theRomulus School Board voted 5 to 2 not to offer a public vote on the merger.
