Route 370 in Liverpool reopens after SWAT situation ends peacefully

Route 370 in Liverpool, from Parker to North Lincoln Avenues, has reopened after a SWAT situation ended peacefully Wednesday night.

Syracuse police say a person is in custody and that person surrendered peacefully.

Police went to 102 Roosevelt Avenue in Liverpool around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday as part of an investigation into a recent homicide in the City of Syracuse. Police say the person immediately barricaded himself inside the home. Officers thought he may have had a handgun on him and called in the SWAT Team.

Police still have to search the house for a handgun.

After communicating with the person for several hours, he came to the front of the home to surrender and was taken into custody.

A portion of Route 370, from Parker to North Lincoln Avenues was closed as the situation unfolded. Neighbors living on either side of the home were evacuated.

Neighbors have now been allowed to return to their homes and Route 370 has reopened.
