Salina man arrested for pointing rifle at neighbor, threatening to kill baby

A Salina man was arrested on Wednesday after pointing a rifle at his female neighbor and threatening to kill her baby, according to Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh.

According to the Sheriffâ??s office, deputies responded to 212 McKenney Avenue in the Town of Salina at around 8:25 on Wednesday night because of a man pointing a rifle at his female neighbor. The man, later identified as 61-year-old John Wright of 212 McKenney Avenue, told the woman that he was going to kill her baby, the Sheriffâ??s office says.

Upon arrival, deputies say that Wright was unarmed and pacing in his driveway. An investigation turned up Wrightâ??s rifle, which was loaded and sitting on the couch in his home.

Deputy Scott Bollinger arrested Wright. He is charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Town of Salina Court.

No injuries were reported due to the incident.
