Authorities say a central New York man has been charged with animal cruelty after more than two dozen dogs were found living in filthy conditions at his mother's home.
Officials with the Central New York SPCA tell local media that 15 puppies and 12 adult dogs were removed Wednesday from the home in Salina, near Syracuse.
SPCA officials say 60-year-old Joseph Kaplan was temporarily living at the house with his 87-year-old mother. They say the dogs are his.
Officials say animal feces was found throughout the home.
Officials say Kaplan's mother was removed from the house and taken to an undisclosed location.
It couldn't be determined if Kaplan has a lawyer.
The dogs are being cared for at the SPCA's shelter.
