Sand Sculpture in the making has an Olympic Theme

This year's State Fair sand sculpture is of Olympic proportions, literally. The sand sculpture--150 tons of sand worth--is a tribute to New York's Olympians and features a basketball player (Carmello Anthony), an equestrienne (Beezie Madden) and other panels still in the making.

Patrick Harsch and Dan Belcher from Team Sandtastic in Florida, got the theme about a week before the Fair's start, and have been carving for a week. They say the sculpture could stand forever, because the conditions inside the building are 'perfect', unless someone disturbs the sand.

The sculpture will be done on Tuesday.
