Sandy Creek and Lacona residents advised to boil water

Oswego County Health Department advises residents of Sandy Creek and Lacona to boil all drinking and cooking water.

Officials say there was a water main break in the municipal water system. The water system lost pressure, which increases the chances that untreated water and harmful microbes could enter the system. Officials say repairs to the water main are under way.

â??Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms,â?? said Jiancheng Huang, Oswego County Director of Public Health. â??They may pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems. The symptoms above are not just caused by organisms in drinking water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice.â??
