Sanitation worker hit by minivan, injured in Oneida County
A sanitation worker was hit by a minivan while trying to wave traffic around a stopped Recycling truck in the City of Rome around 7:33 AM this morning. 45-year old Randall Bristol was transported to St. Elizabeth's hospital with knee and back injuries, according to State Police.
The initial investigation found the Bristols Trash and Recycling truck was stopped on the side of the eastbound lane of Williams Rd. to pick up waste at a home when Bristol was reportedly standing next to the truck waving traffic around.
33-year-old Benjamin Hughes of Gouverneur, NY was driving a minivan in the eastbound land when he attempted to pass the truck. Police say he didn't move far enough to the left and hit the truck and Randall Bristol.
No one else was injured in the accident.
So far there are no charges and the investigation is still ongoing.
