New York Stateâ??s largest animal rescue event, Canine Carnival presented by Wegmans, will take place tomorrow, Saturday August 9 at its NEW location, Jamesville Beach Park, just minutes from downtown Syracuse. Admission is FREE, and the weather looks fantastic. 15,000 people attended last year. Donâ??t be left out this year.
It will be a day of music, food and fun with hundreds of animals up for adoption, from dogs to cats to horses. Well over 100 animal rescue organizations and vendors will be represented. Animal demonstrations from agility to obedience, dancing dogs and a VIP Adoptable Dog Walk are all part of the festivities.
It all begins at 10am as Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney gives the official welcome to everyone, followed by a Blessing of the Animals from a local Pastor, and then the first dog agility demonstration put on by members of SOTC, Syracuse Obedience Training Club.
Bring your dog or come by yourself and just enjoy the animals. Keep in mind all dogs must be on a short, restrained leash and every owner is responsible for their own dog's behavior.
Monies raised will be donated back to the many rescues across central NY that do the tough work, day-in and day-out of caring for our animal friends of all types. Last December the Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation, producers of Canine Carnival, donated $32,000 to 43 CNY rescue organizations.
PMAWF is a 501c3 non-profit, tax exempt corporation.
We thank our sponsors Wegmans, CNYcentral, Liverpool Village Animal Hospital, C&S Companies, Veterinary Medical Center of CNY, GALAXY Communications, DestinyUSA, Able Smith Tent and Onondaga County Parks as well as many others for their support.
