Saturday tribute to Oneida Marine killed in Afghanistan

A balloon launch tribute is set for Saturday night, as the Oneida community remembers the 3rd anniversary of Jeremy Lasher's combat death

The Oneida community is coming together Saturday afternoon, to remember a Marine killed in Afghanistan.

Jeremy Lasher died July 23rd, 2009 in combat in Afghanistan. To mark the third anniversary of his death, family and friends plan a balloon launch tribute, with moneys raised to benefit the Oneida Veterans' Memorial building fund.

The family urges people to arrive at the Oneida American Legion by 4pm, with the launch planned for 5pm.

And, if you cannot get there, they suggest you release a balloon from where you are. His brother plans to do that today, from Camp Pendleton, California
