Schenectady Co. town wins best tasting tap water award

The Schenectady County town of Rotterdam has bragging rights to best tasting tap water in the state.

Rotterdam claimed the top spot in the 28th annual water-tasting contest at the State Fair. The Oneida County village of Remsen was the runner-up.

More than 200 fairgoers sipped samples from water systems that won five regional contests. The other finalists competing in the championship round were the village of Malone, the city of White Plains, and the city of Canandaigua.

The non-scientific competition is meant to highlight the importance of water taste and quality.
