Search continues for Watertown man who tried to save a boy swept away in Black River

The search continues for the Watertown man who tried to save a little boy who was swept away in the Black River over the weekend.

5-year-old Zachary Finley, of 140 High Street, fell into the river Saturday night while fishing. 47-year-old Edward Lee Whitfield III, of 111 E. Lynde Street, described as a family friend, jumped in to save him. Whitfield was last seen wearing red pants and a red and white striped shirt.

The boy's body was found at a hydroelectric dam down river hours later.

Periodic shore searches will continue.
