Second motorcycle crash in two days at same West Monroe intersection

Intersection in West Monroe after deadly motorcycle crash Sunday

Emergency crews have cleared the scene of a second motorcycle crash in two days at one Oswego County intersection.

A motorcycle and car collided shortly after 3 p.m. Monday at State Route 49 and Whig Hill Road in West Monroe, right next to Greenview Country Club.

Lindsay Perry, 17, of West Monroe, was driving a 2007 Chrysler Sebring eastbound on State Route 49 when she turned left into the path of an oncoming motorcycle, according to State Police.

Michael Bellomo, 57, of North Syracuse was riding on the motorcycle and hit the rear passenger door of Perry's car. He was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered severe injuries, according to police.

He was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital and is in serious condition.

Charges against Perry are pending.

On Sunday, two people were killed at that same intersection. Robert Hoke, 54, of Westernville, and Lisa Staple, 49, of Rome, were riding on a motorcycle when they collided with a truck. Oswego County Sheriff's deputies say the truck driver, Carl Wells, 65, of Parish, did not yield the right of way, which may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
