Several Oswego County residents arrested for stealing thousands in welfare benefits

The Oswego County Sheriffâ??s Office made several arrests for welfare fraud around the county February 20.

Deputies arrested 40-year-old Hope A. Graham and 43-year-old Arthur J. Graham, Jr. of Fulton for welfare fraud, grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing after the Grahams allegedly defrauded the Oswego County Department of Social Services out of $3,000 in benefits by not reporting income from Workmanâ??s Compensation and money won in a personal injury lawsuit.

Deputies also arrested 69-year-old Violetta R. Clement of Bernhards Bay for welfare fraud and grand larceny, as well as offering a false instrument for filing for supposedly staling $3,000 worth of services from Oswego County DSS by falsely reporting her shelter expenses.

Finally, deputies arrested 42-year-old Casey L. Cast and 44-year-old Matthew N. Cast, of Bernhards Bay, for welfare fraud, grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing. The Casts are accused of accepting an excess of $3,000 worth of benefits from the Oswego County DSS by not reporting additional income while receiving benefits.

All were arraigned and are due back in Town of Mexico Court on March 5.

These are the latest in a string of arrests in Oswego County for welfare fraud.
