      Shamrock Animal Fund a success

Glasses clinked, animal lovers laughed and chatted and supporters of the Shamrock Animal Fund buzzed about the delicious heaping mashed potatoes served in martini glasses at the inaugural Shamrock's Celebration in Syracuse's Armory Square. A group of 115 people shared stories of their pets, caught up with friends and made new ones. By the end of the night a little over $12,000 had been raised to benefit the care of animals in need.

The exposed brick and beams of PJ's Pub and Grill provided a wonderful environment for the casual affair that also featured carved turkey and corned beef sandwiches and an abundance of beer, wine and soda. The silent auction included restaurant gift certificates, Huephoria wine glasses, pet related items, Syracuse University sports DVD's, Fleet Feet gift certificates, a Metro Matress gift certificate, works of art, backstage concert passes, a Shamrock decorative lamp and other generous donations from the Central New York Community.

The live auction of the Syracuse University Men's Basketball team autographed basketball was the hit of the night. In a lively back and forth bidding it sold for $1300 to the couple of Wendy and Rich Isome. They received a great deal of gratitude for their wonderful donation to The Shamrock Animal Fund. They are now leading the Orange faithful in rooting the team on in the NCAA tournament.

Shamrock Animal Fund founders Matt Mulcahy and Jamie Pomilio-Mulcahy thanked Chris Geiger, President of WSTM, WTVH, WSTQ and, for the generous support of Barrington Broadcasting in underwriting much of the cost of the event. Jane Butler and the staff of PJ's Pub and Grill delivered delicious fresh food with personality and smiles. Bill Francis from Francis Audio and Visual also deserves our thanks for providing the video gear so we could share the story of Shamrock's life.

Among the many others who deserve thanks Voss Signs for the Shamrock Animal Fund banner, Amy Setright Longstreet for legal work, Barbara Flintrop for logo design, Bob Arnold for being the webmaster. This is not an exhaustive list of contributors, but we appreciate every nickel of support in dollars, time and talent.
