The Shamrock Animal Fund is a new not-for-profit fund that will provide financial assistance for animals in need of veterinary care. It is being started by NBC 3 News Anchor and Managing Editor Matt Mulcahy and his wife Jamie Pomilio-Mulcahy.
The fund is inspired by their dog Shamrock who passed away on January 9, 2010. He lived a wonderful life and would have celebrated his 19th birthday on March 17th, St. Patrick's Day.
Sadly, many animals in our community don't share the same luck of the Irish as Shamrock due to abandonment, abuse, injury, illness and neglect.
The beneficiaries of The Shamrock Animal Fund will be referred for care by veterinarians, animal shelters, sanctuaries, rescuers and rehabilitators to participating veterinarians. The funds to assist in this care will go directly to the veterinarians providing it.
An initial fundraising event called Shamrock's Celebration is scheduled for the evening of March 20th from 6:30 to 10:30 at PJ's Pub and Grill in Armory Square in Syracuse. Tickets are $50. The RSVP deadline is March 12th. The public is invited.
Checks should be made to: The Shamrock Animal Fund c/o Matt Mulcahy 1030 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13203. For more information e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org or call: 477-9451. Not for profit and tax exempt status is pending.
