Sheriff's Department has new tool to track criminals

Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh has unveiled a new took to help track down and apprehend people who are wanted on active criminal warrants.The Sheriff's Office website now includes a feature called an "Active Warrants" search. From this web page, people can search the names of persons who are wanted by the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office on criminal arrest warrants. There are, presently, more than 1200 active criminal arrest warrants at the Sheriff's Office.All arrest information is public and will be readily available at the website. The 'Active Warrant' search page shows the name, last known address, age, sex, race, height, weight and the charges named in the warrant. In most cases, there will be a photo of the individual.People can contact the Sheriff's Office Warrants Investigation Unit directly from a link on the web page and submit information about fugitives with active warrants. Sheriff Walsh cautions people in the community to not take any action on their own to arrest or detain a fugitive. Instead, they can submit information about the fugitive to the Sheriff's Office by phone at 475-7625 of by the email link on the web page.Click the link below for the Sheriff's Office webpage.
