Sherrill man walks away from bad accident with minor injuries, thanks to seatbelt

A Sherrill man walked away from a bad car accident with only minor injuries on Saturday morning, thanks to his seatbelt.

New Hartford Police say the accident happened on May 10 at about 12:54 a.m. on State Route 5 in New Hartford.

Police say 24-year-old James Rapasadi, of Sherrill, was driving on Route 5 near Homestead Road when he failed to negotiate a curve.

His car drove off the road, and rolled several times in a ditch, coming to rest in a resident's front yard.

Rapasadi was transported to St. Elizabeth's hospital after complaining of arm pain.

He was issued a traffic citation for moving a lane unsafely.

Police say Rapasadi escaped serious injury because he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
