S. Geddes St. shooting victim's friend speaks out
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Unfair and unnecessary, that's what several of the victim's friends and family had to say about the 18-year-old's death, including Eddie Brown.
"I was at home and I got a phone call telling me that the street was blocked off, and they had to go around. So, I didn't know what happened but, you know, eventually the word got around what happened, and it's just devastating," he said.
He had seen no signs that his friend could be in trouble.
"To me, this had to be a random act because I really couldn't picture this happening. He was a good kid," Eddie said.
The near west side has been hit with a number of violent crimes, but Eddie says it can often come down to being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
"I feel safe here, but it's just you never know. You know what I mean? You never know what could happen," he added.
He says as of recently it seems like people get easily offended, and resort to guns to solve their problems.
Now that his friend is gone, Eddie just has one wish.
"I want justice for him. He deserves it. His family deserves it," he said.
