A skunk found in the Town of Onondaga has tested positive for rabies, according to the Onondaga County Health Department.
The rabid skunk was found on Lords Hill Road, near Route 20.
Onondaga County Interim Health Commissioner Michelle Mignano says, â??This is the seventh case of rabies this year, the public should avoid contact with wildlife and unfamiliar animals.â??
Mignano urges neighbors to take personal protection measures to avoid rabies infection, including staying away from all wild animals and domesticated animals that you do not know.
