Small plane crashes at Buffalo-Niagara International Airport

A small plane has crash landed in the parking lot of the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport, according to WIVB.

The Piper PA-28-161 plane crashed on the front side of the airport, in the parking lot, just before 3 pm Thursday.

The plane was damaged by the crash landing, and the pilot was taken to an area hospital for treatment. WIVB reports that the pilot does not have serious injuries.

Emergency crews sprayed the plane down with foam as a precaution.

There is no word yet on what caused the crash, or if the plane was taking off or landing when it happened.
