Snow emergency declared in Utica

A snow emergency has been declared for the city of Utica.

It will go into effect at 10 p.m. Thursday . Under the snow emergency, all cars must be off city roads to make way for plows and emergency vehicles.

"Given the upcoming forecast and after consulting with DPW Commissioner David Short, I have made the determination that a Snow Emergency Declaration is necessary," said Utica Mayor Rob Palmieri. "Our DPW team began plowing operations at 11:00 p.m. New Year's Day and we have been as proactive as possible in minimizing the effect the snow will have on travelers."

The snow emergency remains in effect until further notice.
