Sodus woman charged with animal abuse turns herself in

Cindy Denninger

The Sodus woman who is charged with 15 counts of animal abuse has turned herself in to authorities.

Police say Cindy Denninger is being held in Wayne County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.

Investigators seized 16 horses, cows and at least 17 birds from her property in Wayne County on Monday.

Many of the animals were found malnourished, injured and living in dilapidated barns. Investigators say some of the animals were eating wood off the sides of the barns to stay alive.

The horses were retired race horsed from the Finger Lakes Race Track.
