Many people in the Southern Tier woke up feeling differently than they did the day before.
After seeing the news of New York State Trooper Christopher Skinner being killed on Interstate-81 in Broome County, many neighbors say it made them stop and think about the dangerous work law enforcement officers do every day.
Many in the community say first responders are here to protect and serve their neighbors, but no one is there to protect them.
As the news progressed, and we learned more about the suspect, Almond Upton, and how he admitted to intentionally hitting Trooper Skinner, many people become more emotional about Trooper Skinner??s tragic death.
This is the second time in as many months that the Southern Tier has lost a law enforcement officer, which has enhanced the feelings of neighbors, and how they view the difficult and dangerous first responders face every day.
